I decided I didn’t want to spend a ton of money (yet) on a filter system for my new homemade fish pond in the backyard, so I messed around with this filtration idea- one that can be made with common items you already have, or that you could easily find on trash day- and it works. It actually has been improved on (what I’m using for the filters) and you’ll eventually see more of that in the next edition/next video. But basically, you can build this working gravity pond-filter with an old towel, some scraps of wood, a few nails, and a milk crate- a bucket would work well too and might look better (a later version we built used a bucket- which you can paint and hide easier). Back on this uglier prototype, this unit filters the water while dropping the return water back into the pond, causing and creating some needed aeration for your fish- koi, comet, goldfish or whatever you may be keeping.
