The detail
Tucked away on a working farm on Exmoor, you’ll find this bespoke shepherd’s hut, packed with a whole array of home comforts. Surrounded by apple trees and rolling fields, Victoria Hut offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle and encourages you to sit back and enjoy nature. Wake up to the sound of birdsong before spending the day exploring Exmoor or heading down to the coast. In the evening, get something cooking outdoors on the grill and enjoy the sunset from the comfort of the wood-fired hot tub.
The hut’s interior feels surprisingly bright and spacious thanks to the large windows, light-coloured timber cladding and the blues and yellows chosen for the furnishings. To one side, you’ll find the comfy double bed complete with luxurious Egyptian Cotton bedding, setting you up for a great night’s sleep. On chillier evenings, you’ll be able to get a fire going in the wood burner and snuggle up under the covers.
You’ll find the bathroom facilities 30 metres away in the orchard and you’ll have your own private heated shower room with luxury toiletries and soft fluffy towels provided. There’s a well-equipped kitchenette with all the essentials, including a gas hob and a fridge and you’ll also be able to cook outside on the BBQ grill. There’s also a small sofa where you can put your feet up with a good book. On warmer days, relax outdoors on the outdoor furniture and light the fire pit to keep you warm as the evening draws in.
There’s plenty to do in the area, especially for those looking to make the most of the outdoors. Portlock Weir is just a 10-minute drive away where you’ll find the hub of Exmoor Adventures. Here, you’ll be able to hire bikes or get involved in a range of activities from archery to coasteering to paddleboarding. If you fancy trying out some watersports, head to Wimbeball Lake to hire all the equipment you’ll need or book yourself in for some classes. Remember to pack your walking boots as there are many paths and routes you can join close to the hut, including the South West Coastal Path. If you fancy a change of scene, head down to the coast. You can stroll to Bossington Beach easily within 45 minutes or head to the charming coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth.
