I had been long wanting to get a larger tent for family camping- both for sale space and for gear storage- so I finally splurged and got one from Timber Ridge. This 14’ long tent was surprisingly easy to set up (I had my two kids do it to test that theory (I just helped reach/set up the fly) and WAS pretty darn spacious. As I set this up I started thinking of how a tent like this might be ideal for short term off-grid living (perhaps while building a larger more permanent structure) or how something like this could be a solution (short term) for homeless people (not that tent living is a new, novel, and profound idea). Whatever the case, its the biggest tent I’ve ever owned and I look forward to testing it out more. Its dubbed a ”10 person family tent”- though I’d say it’d be more-so a ”spacious 6”- though you COULD fit ten in there I’m sure- I keep referring to it as an ”8 sleeper” though as I felt that was more realistic (and kept forgetting!- lol).
